“Architects, not Architecture” is excited to announce a new AnA event in Amsterdam. Having hosted events in over 10 countries and 3 continents, and uniting architects and architecture enthusiasts worldwide, we’re thrilled to return to the Netherlands and reconnect with the Dutch architecture community.
“AnA” provides a rare opportunity to learn about globally renowned architects from a distinctive perspective. The series’ unique format, which has been captivating audiences since 2015, adheres to a single rule: speakers are not allowed to discuss their architectural projects. This approach allows for deeply personal and engaging narratives, offering a fresh and intimate look at the minds behind the architecture.
On Thursday, January 30, 2025, at Vondelkerk in Amsterdam, AnA will bring together two distinguished Dutch architects along with an American architect with a large international impact. They will share insights into their personal journeys, focusing on the key creative moments that influenced their architectural careers:

Kai-Uwe Bergmann, partner at BIG, leads their business development department, expanding their work around the world. He also oversees projects locally in NYC and has taught at various schools internationally, and works to continue fostering architecture discourse through juries and lecturing. Bjarne Mastenbroek founded SeARCH in 2002 with a focus on exploring the relationship between architecture and site. This exploration has led to many international projects and teaching opportunities at the Academy of Architecture in Amsterdam, TU Delft, the International University of Catalonia and the University of Auckland. Donna van Milligen Bielke is an architect with a vision for public spaces and the relationship between volumes and space in the urban fabric. She has won multiple awards and continues to pursue these themes through projects at a variety of scales.
